About

The European Network of Sport Education (ENSE) is an international non-profit organisation and has been active in the field of sport education in Europe since 1989.




ENSE works to create learning opportunities, skills, competences, and qualifications in all settings for people or organisations leading, developing and supporting sport activities. ENSE aims achieve this by working on pan-European projects, creating innovative educational materials, connecting organisations working in the field of sport education, and advocating for effective policies on the European level.

Activities

Healthy Lifestyle Network Europe (HLNE) 2024 - 2026 is a European cooperation project dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles through sport and education. It connects partner institutions to exchange expertise, develop innovative approaches and strengthen sustainable health strategies across Europe. The initiative supports professionals and organisations in fostering long-term physical activity and well-being within their communities.

SheCoach (2021-2023) was a European cooperation project aimed at strenghtening social cohesion through sport and physical activity in diverse urban communities. Coordinated by the German Sport University Cologne and funded by the European Commission (Erasmus+), the project addressed challenges related to inclusion, diversity and community development.
Using an innovative Living Lab approach, SheCoach engaged practitioners and participants directly to better understand how sport can foster social cohesion in vulnerable neighbourhoods. The project developed practical tools and evidence-based methods to support professionals in designing, implementing and evaluating high-quality sport-for-social-cohesion programmes across Europe.

BeFore - Anti-Bullying Education focuses on preventing bullying and promoting safe, inclusive environments within educational and sport settings. The initiative supports research, awareness-building and evidence-based strategies to address bullying behaviours and strengthen resilience among young people.
Through cooperation between academic institutions and practitioners, BeFore contributes to developing effective prevention measures and promoting respectful, inclusive communities at local and European level.

Inclusive Sport Academics promotes inclusion and equal opportunities in sport and higher education. The initiative supports cooperation between academic institutions and sport organisations to strengthen inclusive practices and ensure broader access to sport-related education and participation.
By encouraging research collaboration, knowledge exchange and institutional partnerships, the activity contributes to fostering diversity, accessibility and innovation within the European sport and education landscape.

The Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) is an initiative of the Council of Europe aimed at promoting ethical, inclusive and sustainable sport policies across member states. EPAS facilitates cooperation between governments and sport organisations to strengthen good governance, integrity and human rights in sport.
Through policy dialogue, research and strategic frameworks, EPAS contributes to shaping European standards and fostering responsible sport development at international level.

Membership

Our membership is open to organizations engaged in sport education throughout Europe. From higher education institution and private employers, to federations and government, all organizations that share our thematic focus on the education and development of sport professionals are welcome.

As part of a network of academic and sport organizations, you will play a key role in the development of sport education in Europe. Members regularly cooperate in a number of projects and working groups, and ENSE supports members by disseminating and promoting their activities.

Furthermore, ENSE members obtain preferential discounts when they publish in our affiliated journals, Sports or Educational Journals.
