As part of the ongoing efforts to enhance gender equality in sports coaching, the SheCoach project has released a comprehensive Recommendations report. This report addresses critical knowledge gaps in gender mainstreaming, specifically within basketball coaching education and qualifications, across Cyprus, Greece, Italy, and Spain.

The report is the result of extensive primary research, including an online survey with over 400 participants and 20 in-depth interviews with stakeholders in the coaching and sports education sector. It identifies key challenges such as institutional biases, societal stereotypes, and limited integration of gender-sensitive topics into coaching curricula.

Key highlights of the Recommendations Report include:

  • Identifying barriers: Analysis of systemic challenges in integrating gender equality into coaching education.
  • Strategic frameworks: Practical actions to support coaching education providers in mainstreaming gender issues.
  • Policy recommendations: Guidance for organizations to develop and implement gender-sensitive policies and practices.

This report will guide the development of the SheCoach Capacity Building Programme, which includes specialized training delivered through an e-learning platform. This initiative aims to empower coaching education providers with the tools and knowledge to promote gender equality effectively.

The SheCoach project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Union, demonstrates a commitment to fostering equity, diversity, and inclusion in sports. We invite sports organizations, educators, and policymakers to explore the Recommendations report.
