The 17th European Network of Sport Education (ENSE) Forum took place in Tirana, Albania, on November 1-2, 2024, hosted by the Sports University of Tirana. Under the theme "Bridging Borders through Sport Education: The Euro-Balkan-Med Perspective," the forum created an inspiring platform for educators, researchers, and practitioners from across Europe to address pressing issues in sport education and its role in fostering unity and understanding.
This year's discussions addressed a diverse range of essential topics, including human rights, sports diplomacy, health promotion, dual career development, and innovative approaches in coaching. The forum also focused on the potential of sport to address societal challenges in a multicultural context, especially within the Euro-Balkan-Med regions.
Highlights included a keynote address from Cassandra Mactavish, EPAS Senior Project Officer, who shared insights on how sport can promote inclusion and shared values in Europe and beyond. Panelists and presenters explored current research and practices in areas such as sport for social inclusion, intercultural exchange, and digital advancements in sport education, giving participants valuable perspectives on these complex issues.
A standout session featured Tom Mitchel from Leeds Beckett University, who led an interactive workshop on the ICOACHKIDS Pledge, emphasizing key principles for effective youth coaching. Additionally, the forum offered sessions on technology’s role in youth well-being and the evolving landscape of sport education for young coaches.
The ENSE Forum celebrated the collaborative spirit and the enriching exchange of ideas. Special thanks to the presenters, participants, and the dedicated volunteers from the Sports University of Tirana for their role in making this event impactful. We look forward to gathering again for the next ENSE Forum in 2026!
