The first panelists and keynote speakers for the 15th ENSE Forum, which will be held at the University of Vienna's Institute for Sport Science on the 26th and 27th of September 2019, are now confirmed.

Under the theme Sport – Education – Society. Links and Solutions, these speakers are leaders in their field and represent various important sectors, including research, policy, and grassroots sport.

Jean-Francois Laurent, Director at the The Association for International Sport for All (TAFISA), has spent over a decade promoting sport and active living, and, with his keynote address, will contribute a unique perspective on how education can enhance and promote sport.

A top caliber round-table panel exploring the links between sport, education and society is also set, and will include Agata Dziarnowska, John Bales, Kristine de Martelaar, and Karen Petry.

Agata Dziarnowska is a Policy Officer at the European Commission, and brings a broad view, along with 15 years of experience, on the importance of sport education across the continent.

John Bales is President of the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), and has many decades of experience working in international sport as a coach, administrator and athlete.

Kristine de Martelaar is a Professor at the Free University Brussels, and she has worked extensively on topics related to sport, culture and youth.

Finally, Karen Petry is the current President of ENSE and a Deputy Head of institute at the German Sport University, and she has worked for over 30 years on the development, delivery and evaluation of sport education programming.

Beyond these speakers and panelists, the Forum will offer a space for reflection and discussion about the potential of sport to address the societal and educational challenges facing Europe. Through interactive sessions, groups and presentations, the Forum will generate knowledge and recommendations that will help both researchers and practitioners alike.

To register to attend the Forum, individuals must simply fill out the registration form.

Those interested in presenting at the Forum can submit their abstracts by June 15th to info(a)sporteducation.eu. Oral presentations and posters are both welcome. Full requirements can be found here.

Further updates on the Forum will be shared on www.sporteducation.eu.

From April 8 to 11 2019, ENSE, in collaboration with local NGO
RheinFlanke, co-hosted the kick-off meeting of the football3 for all project at the German Sport University in Cologne.

A 3-year project funded through the European Commission's Erasmus+ programme, the project will develop an organisational-level football3 certification as well as a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) that will allow individuals to access validated football3 education remotely and independently. In this respect, ENSE will play a leading role in the quality control and evaluation of the MOOC and the related certification pathway.

Named after its ‘three halves’ – a pre-match discussion, football game, and post-match discussion – football3 incorporates key life lessons into every match. Played without a referee, the methodology allows participants to set their own rules and resolve their own conflicts, hence promoting dialogue, cooperation and communication. Through the help of an impartial mediator, participants are supported and brought to reflect on their behaviour before and after each match.

The project is coordinated by international football NGO streetfootballworld, and also includes the FARE network (Football Against Racism Europe), Albion in the Community, Balon Mundial, MSIS, INEX - Sdružení dobrovolných aktivit / Fotbal pro rozvoj, Associação CAIS and Oltalom Sportegyesület.

The 15th ENSE Forum will be held at the University of Vienna's Institute for Sport Science on the 26th and 27th of September 2019 under the theme Sport – Education – Society. Links and Solutions.
